আমাদের দেশে খুব পরিচিত গাছ। আদি নিবাস মাদাগাস্কার। ব্যারন মিলিয়াস ফ্রান্সে এই প্রজাতিটি সর্বপ্রথম পরিচিত করান, তাই তার সম্মানার্থে প্রজাতির নামের শেষাংশে mili নাম দেয়া হয়েছে। খ্রীষ্টধর্মমতে, যীশুকে শূলে বিদ্ধ করার অনুষ্ঠানে তার মাথায় এই গাছের মুকুট পড়িয়ে দেয়া হয়েছিল, সেই থেকে নাম Christ plant বা Christ thorn।
সুন্দর ফুলের জন্য এই গাছ বাগানে লাগানো হয়। নানান ভ্যারাইটি আছে। সচরাচর ছোট ফুলের আরোহী জাতীয় গাছ- Euphorbia milii var. milii আর বড় ফুলের- Euphorbia milii var. splendens জাতটিই বেশি দেখা যায়। নানান রঙের ফুলের চারা এখন নার্সারীগুলোতে পাওয়া যায়। গাছের কষ বিষাক্ত। চামড়া বা চোখে লাগলে সাথে সাথে পানি দিয়ে ধুয়ে ফেলা উচিত।""
